Ms. Stroder and Ms. Terrio are quite the sales ladies as they host the "BookFair" Literacy Night

Librarians Ms. Terrio (Upper) and Ms. Stroder (Lower) are promoting reading during Literacy night by holding a bookfair at Melrose Upper.

Melrose Lower will host their bookfair December 2nd through December 9th.  It has been brought to our attention that taxes at the bookfair will need to be collected. Hope to see you there!!!

Melrose Upper Elementary has monthly “Student of the Month” luncheons held once a month. Each month one student is selected by their teacher based on their academic performance, conduct and or most improved.  The students selected each month are then treated to a luncheon with the Principal.

Congratulations to all the Students of the Month!!

Parents attending Literacy Night at Melrose Upper
Students from Melrose Lower merged with Melrose Upper to "Slip Into Reading".  Parents and students alike rotated through five different literacy activity stations including "Itsy Bitsy Spider", Fables, Sequencing, Shopping at "The BookFair", and much more.  We'd like to thank Barnes and Nobles and Borders for the Book Donations which was received by children in attendance.  A special thank you to the participants.

Red Ribbon Week-something to cheer about!

To show their choice to be drug free, Pre-K thru 2nd grade students and staff wore different themed items each day ranging from; mix-matched socks/ clothes to silly hats.  We rounded the week off wearing red shirts and smiles.  To match the red ribbons on campus for the week, Friday was really a blast as the children decorated the school fence using red cups with their signature “Just say no!” slogan.   Cheers could be heard on campus and in the surrounding community as the children chanted:  J-U-S-T Just say No!

Real Men Read
Sergeant Reginald Brown shared two stories with our fourth and fifth boys during the "Real Men Read" program on February 9.
